Classroom Assessment Web Application

This project involved converting an existing classroom assessment web application from Grails to Ruby on Rails.

The purpose of the web application was to allow teachers and other school administrators to track classroom performance in an easy to use format, accessible to any device that has internet access, but designed specifically with use on iPads in mind.

My involvement was focused mainly within the view and controller layers of the frameworks, converting the older Grails documents to use Ruby on Rails. Changes to the existing documents were made using HTML, CSS, Javascript (jQuery), and Ruby on Rails.

The web application is proprietary (owned by Mersoft) and its use is licensed to different school districts. The link below will give additional information about the product, however, access to the actual application is restricted to licensed users only.

Mosquitno Website

This project involved the creation of a new WordPress based website and applying a new design to an existing shopping cart website for a company that manufactures mosquito repellant products.

The purpose of the new website was to act as a marketing site for the companies products. The re-skinning of the existing e-commerce website was to make the design match that of the new marketing website.

The marketing site design was based on a premium WordPress theme, with a few modifications. The redesign of the nsCommerceSpace (Network Solutions) based e-commerce site was accomplished using HTML, CSS, and a proprietary scripting language used by nsCommerceSpace, nsScript, to match the look of the marketing website.

The websites have since been updated and these versions of the sites are no longer accessible.

Sign Company Website

This project involved creating a simple WordPress based microsite to showcase image galleries for a signage company.

The purpose of the website was to allow the signage company to easily add and update galleries for recently completed sign projects.

My involvement included implementing and laying out the image galleries for the microsite. The galleries were implemented using a WordPress plugin, with some modifications (using PHP and Javascript) to match the output with the desired look and functionality. They were laid out using HTML and CSS.

Personal Health Record Mobile Application

This project involved the creation of Phonegap based iOS and Android apps mobile applications for tracking personal health information.

The application allows user to enter information regarding past doctor visits, emergency contact info, as well as upcoming appointments. It is essentially a mobile web application, written using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, that is wrapped in a framework (Phonegap) that allows it to access features on the user’s device (Smartphone or Tablet) that are not normally accessible to mobile web applications. Once installed, the application connects to a local SQLite database, to retrieve and update the user’s information.

My involvement in this particular project was as the primary developer. The main portion of the work involved using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (jQuery) to create the application in accordance with previously agreed upon design and functionality specifications.

Unfortunately, the client’s company went out of business, and the mobile app is no longer available.

Home Furnishings Website

This project involved the creation of a Shopify based shopping cart website for a local home goods store.

The purpose of the website was to act as the main online shop for the home goods store, allowing them to increase their online sales, as compared to their previous website. The website was also designed to fit in as part of an updated marketing scheme.

The design work and some development work had previously performed, with the intent that Shopify would be used to create the online store. I took over the development work necessary to implement the design within Shopify’s framework, as well as aiding in the integration of all products. Shopify acts as a content management system, providing users with a backend to perform various actions with their shop’s products and pages, and constructing the site’s content using a template system. The templates were constructed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), and Shopify’s proprietary programming language, Liquid.

Real Estate Developer Website

This project involved the creation of a website and custom content management system for a real estate developer.

The website was designed as the main place to showcase the plans, layouts, and images of the developer’s most recently built homes. The custom content management system allowed the developer to perform basic CRUD operations (create, update, delete) on plans/layouts, image galleries, and information about himself, all through a simple and easy to use backend interface.

My involvement in this project included designing and building the custom content management system, as well as building the website to match a design provided by an outside design consultant. The system was built as a PHP template engine, similar in nature to WordPress, with a vastly simplified interface, allowing the user to focus specifically on the most critical tasks. The templates were created using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), and PHP, and site content was stored and retrieved from a MySQL database.

Unfortunately, the site is no longer in use.

Case Studies Website

This project involved creating a simple WordPress based website to showcase recent case studies for the Mersoft Corporation.

The purpose of the website was to allow Mersoft to easily add and update case study pieces written to showcase the company’s abilities.

I performed all the design and development work necessary to create the microsite. It was written using the WordPress blog framework, starting from an existing, simple theme, and customizing the theme using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), and PHP to perfectly match the look and feel of existing, main website. Unfortunately, the site is no longer used.
